Well talk about an exciting month for NSO, eh? First we get the announcement of all the Mega Man World games being adding to the Game Boy lineup, and then we get 2 GBA and 2 17+ N64 games via the Direct. These are some welcoming additions to the service, so I thought I should talk about what other titles I would like to see added to the service in the near future, be it on the Switch or hopefully the Switch2. Keep in mind this isn't a complete list, but of all my wants, these are the ones I wanna see the most. Also note there's no Genesis titles as personally, I can get whatever Genesis titles I want thanks to the Steam Workshop for the Mega Drive/Genesis Collection. Right, let's get to the list, starting with NES titles:
Blades of Steel
This has been my most wanted title for the longest time. Forget what people say about NHL 94 or NHLPA 93, this to me is the GOAT hockey game. It's simple, it's addicting, and it's also really friggin funny. I mean, in what other hockey game can you start a fight, win it, and it's the other guy that has to serve the penalty? Blades of Steel needs to get added at some point. It just has to.
Bubble Bobble
To be honest, I thought this was already on NSO for the longest time before finding out otherwise. I know it's already on the NES Classic console, but this is a title worthy of playing online with friends to get the better endings (plus the audio delay on the NES Classic really bugs me more than it should.) Hopefully the fact that there are Bubble Bobble games available for the Switch isn't the reason this isn't on NSO, because that would be real disappointing.
Summer Carnival '92: Recca
This one is kind of a pull, but the NES library has had its fair share of obscure titles, so why not? Recca was a Japan-only SHMUP before getting an International audience over 20 years later when it was available through the 3DS Virtual Console. With the 3DSVC closing down, it'd be a real shame if Nintendo decided not to give players the opportunity to play this again. Plus people love their bullet hells SHMUPs, so why not give them the chance to play this one with a proper controller?
HyperZone
And now we have a real pull to start the SNES section. HyperZone was a rail shooter that looked like what would happen if F-Zero played like Star Fox. It's an often forgotten title, seeing how there were so many better games at launch and this one, well, is kind of on the dull side. But it still has a little charm to it that I'm sure it'll get a bit of a warm reception if it gets a release. Also I want it simply because I never beat it as a kid and just want to clear it once.
Rockman & Forte/Megaman & Bass
This can technically go into the GBA section, but I'm placing it here since I have a feeling the original version would get placed on NSO over the updated version. This was basically Mega Man 8.5 seeing that 8 had recently released on 32-bit consoles and Capcom created this for those that didn't have either a PS1 or a Saturn to play it. It's also I believe the last traditional MM console platformer not available on the Switch in any form. Honestly, I'm surprised The Wily Wars got in before this. And to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Mega Man Soccer was added before this too.
Bomberman 64 (The Hudson Soft version)
Starting the N64 section with one of, if not my favorite 3rd party titles for the console. Bomberman 64 was the first title in the series to go 3D. And instead of the usual gameplay of blowing up enemies in an arena, Bomberman 64 was an action-adventure title, seeing the hero venture into different lands solving puzzles, overcoming obstacles and of course, blowing up enemies to reach the goal at the end of the stage. Multiplayer mode was your typical Bomberman experience, but still a good one. This would be great for those who didn't know the title was made available in the Wii U shop around the time the Switch first launched. Plus, who doesn't want more Bomberman?
Donkey Kong 64
Look, I get it. Donkey Kong 64 is a collect-a-thon with perhaps too much to collect for it's own good, and many felt this was a giant step backwards after the Country line of games. Honestly, even with all the bad rap it got I still enjoyed playing DK64 and would welcome it to the service. And I'm being completely honest, I'll go on record and say I'd rather play this all again over something like Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo-Tooie, or *shudders* Jet Force Gemini. Give the people, or me in this case, what they want Rare and give Nintendo the green light for this. And Diddy Kong Racing I guess.
Donkey Kong 94
And kicking off the final section of this list, the Game Boy section, we go from a Donkey Kong title that's divisive amogst fans to a Donkey Kong title nearly universally beloved by fans. DK94 pictures the original Donkey Kong game continuing, where DK gets up after the fall, steals Paulina again, and takes Mario on a global chase, where Mario will have to make use of new skills and items in all sorts of different locales, including a jungle, an iceburg, and even a ship and an airplane at one point. DK94 served as a companion game to the Super Game Boy peripheral, but it holds out on its own. Although, how cool would it be if Nintendo decided to add the Super Game Boy option in the process? Imagine the other titles that'd benefit from it.
Pokemon Pinball + R&S
In their absence of the early generation games (which I highly doubt will get added at any point), we got a whole slew of Pokemon spinoff titles added to the service. Puzzle League, Snap, Stadium, and the TCG are all available to play. But of course the one I want to play the most currently isn't. Of all the spinoff titles, Pinball for the GBC and Pinball R&S were my jam, which makes sense given that I enjoy playing pinball here and there. No worrying about type advantages, exclusive monsters that require another player, or any of that. All that gets replaced with worrying that the ball will find its way to the outlanes and whether the game will give you the right evolution for Eevee to complete your Pokedex (I just wanted a Flareon. Was that too much to ask?) Hopefully if they do make their way to the service, it'll be together so I can cycle through all 4 tables at one time.
